I have a Leek-now what the heck do I do with it??

In my effort to encourage my blog readers to NOT GROW BORED with their supportive and nutrient-rich diets, I strive to show you how to get into those fruits and veggies that are a novelty to some people.  And, who knows, maybe I can help some of you discover your new favorite!  Like the pomegranate video I made a while back, my intention is to help you figure out how to a. get into the sucker b....

Faux-tato Leek Soup

My favorite food on the planet? Soup.  Pretty much any kind I can get my hands on.  On my list of favorites?  Curried Butternut Squash, Carrot Ginger, and Potato Leek.  Tonight, I had a “hankering” (love that word: ) for Potato Leek soup.  Given that I eat supportively now, I had to make a couple of changes to an old classic for two reasons: 1. Potatoes are a starchy carbohydrate,...

Butternut Squash Fries are Good to Your Thighs

When I first started eating supportively, my mind began to play tricks on me.  I suddenly had to have stuff I never even ate, carby stuff, like fries.  I created this recipe one day during a carb-crave attack, and I just adore them.  Not only do I love these, but my kids love ‘em, too….as does my waistline…  a whole lot of love, WITHOUT making ME a whole lot to love   ...

Pie in a glass will melt away your…stomach :)

There’ve been many variations of this that I’ve had recited to me; pumpkin pie, apple pie, cherry pie, chocolate silk pie, etc. etc. but here’s ”back to the  basics”: 1 scoop vanilla protein powder 1 small apple, peeled, diced 1 cup water 10-15 nuts (doesn’t matter; I typically use almonds, and have also used walnuts) Sprinkle of cinammon Pie in a glass Blend...

Roasted Curried Chickpeas

A problem I had when I started eating supportively was I got bored very quickly with my 2 snacks per day.  Snacks containing protein were pretty cyclical.  Cottage cheese, chobani yogurt with some fruit, an apple and a string cheese, red pepper strips with hummus.  Those were pretty much my 4 staples.  I had no idea what to eat, especially not something quick that I could grab and go.  I love...

Chinese "Fake-out"

Like most people, I love Chinese food.  Also like most people, I have a really hard time going out (especially to the amazing, expansive buffets) and eating only supportively.  Given the fact that they drench, bread, pork fry, tempura, and duck sauce the heck out of everything, it’s really hard to go out and not cave to temptation. I love, love, LOVE  beef and broccoli.  It’s sooo...

I have a pomegranate…now what the heck do I do with it??

Don’t know about you, but I’ve bought pomegranates, and upon opening them, realized I was in a bit of a pickle. I had stained the entire countertop, my fingertips,  my shirt, and my kid a bright kool-aid red.   Then, as I harvested the seeds, I thought, “Wait a minute…what am I going to do with the seeds once they’re out??”   Since then, I’ve figured you...

Balsamic Sesame Swiss Chard

Do you know what I find most great about Swiss Chard? I mean, aside from the fact that it’s packed full of vitamins and minerals,  and particularly known for its Vitamin K content? The color.  It’s such a deep green, and with unbelievably vibrant variegation.  Typically red, sometimes orange or pink, but regardless they are almost always vividly neon.   I like to flash steam mine,...
