12 Days of Christmas-The "Short Notice Guest"
Everyone has it happen, usually with very little notice (and that’s if you’re lucky-sometimes, they just show up at the door). You get the call, and the long-time-no-see friend/aunt/cousin/college roommate is “…on their way, passing through town, and would love to stop by and catch up!!!”
I’m blessed with a grocery store a second down the road, so these last-minute...

12 Days of Christmas- The Cookie Swap

Butternut Squash Fries are Good to Your Thighs
When I first started eating supportively, my mind began to play tricks on me. I suddenly had to have stuff I never even ate, carby stuff, like fries. I created this recipe one day during a carb-crave attack, and I just adore them. Not only do I love these, but my kids love ‘em, too….as does my waistline… a whole lot of love, WITHOUT making ME a whole lot to love ...

Roasted Curried Chickpeas
A problem I had when I started eating supportively was I got bored very quickly with my 2 snacks per day. Snacks containing protein were pretty cyclical. Cottage cheese, chobani yogurt with some fruit, an apple and a string cheese, red pepper strips with hummus. Those were pretty much my 4 staples. I had no idea what to eat, especially not something quick that I could grab and go. I love...

HUMMUS – the food that makes the world go 'round (and NOT your stomach)
If I could eat one thing every day for the rest of my life, it would, hands-down, be hummus. Hummus, in Arabic, means “chickpea,” and considering that’s the main ingredient, well, it makes sense. Chickpeas are packed with protein and good fats, and they are just sooo darn good.
One of the main reasons I love this recipe so much is because it’s so easy, and so changeable. ...

Red Wine Vinaigrette- "Dress" your veggies to lose fat!
What’s the first thing people say to you when they see you eating a salad?
“What are you, on a diet or something?!”
Well, maybe, maybe not. It happens to me a LOT. I like salad because I happen to be a veg-a-holic, and my kids like salad because their mom likes salad. And because we eat supportively (a protein and fibrous carb [veggie or fruit]) each meal), well, we have...

Sizzlin' fast Ginger Lime Salmon with Roasted asparagus
My mission is to bring fast, delicious, supportive recipes to you. This is one of the fastest, but best tasting recipes I’ve brought to the table.
Literally- aside from salt and pepper, 4 ingredients. What’s not to love?! See?
Salmon, Ginger Root, Garlic, and Lime
I started by cranking the oven up to 450 degrees F. I then began grating fresh ginger root that I had peeled onto...

Quick Prep Roasted Cauliflower with Ham
I probably eat ham three times a year, but when I do, I love the bold, smoky, salty flavor. And roasting veggies is one of my favorite ways to serve them. This recipe was just destined for creation! : )
This past Easter, I had a cinnamonny dessert of some sort rubbing up against the ham on my plate. Upon tasting it, I discovered ham and cinnamon were an awesome flavor combination, and...

Balsamic Sesame Swiss Chard
Do you know what I find most great about Swiss Chard?
I mean, aside from the fact that it’s packed full of vitamins and minerals, and particularly known for its Vitamin K content?
The color. It’s such a deep green, and with unbelievably vibrant variegation. Typically red, sometimes orange or pink, but regardless they are almost always vividly neon. I like to flash steam mine,...

Quick "Baked" Mashed Sweet Potatoes
I believe in doing things quickly to save time. That being said, I sometimes bake or thaw things in the microwave. Most of us do, right?
This recipe calls for 2 sweet potatoes, average sized, and is the easiest thing to do:
Rinse your sweet potatoes and prick them with a fork. Put them in the microwave for 8 minutes. That’s it!
(If your microwave has a baked potato setting, use that. ...
